A finished timber paling fence running the full length of a back boundary above a sleeper retaining wall
Pl. 01 — Timber paling, boundary run
Brisbane · Redlands · Logan

Built dead straight. Finished properly.

Fencing, decks, pergolas, carports and retaining walls across Brisbane, the Redlands and Logan. Measured and set out before anything is dug, so what you end up with holds a line you can see from the street.

Fencing estimate

Roughly what will it cost?

Move the slider, pick the type of fence, and the range is there. No email address, no phone number, and no waiting on a callback to find out whether you are in the right ballpark.

Not sure? Pace it out. One decent stride is close enough to a metre for this.

Fence type

Only used if you send the enquiry through. It does not change the estimate.

Read this with the number
  1. This is an estimate, not a quote. It is a range built from what Smitco normally charges per metre. It is not an offer and nothing is locked in by it.
  2. It cannot see your ground. Rock, tree roots, services in the way, a slope, poor access, an old fence to pull out, gates, a height above standard. Any one of those moves the number, and a calculator has no way of knowing about them.
  3. The price you pay is the one on the written quote. That comes after someone has looked at the job, either in person or from your photos and measurements. If the quote differs from this estimate, the quote is the real number.
Option 01

Someone comes and looks

$50 credited back to the job once you accept the quote

Twenty minutes in your yard. The run gets measured, the ground and the access get checked, and you get a written price that holds.

  • Nothing for you to prepare
  • Every variable seen before the number is written
  • If the job is smaller or simpler than you thought, you will be told
Book a site visit
Option 02

Quoted off your photos

Free but it needs work from you first

Faster, and it costs nothing. It only works if what you send is good enough to price from, so this is what is needed:

  • Photos of the full run, taken from both ends
  • The length in metres, paced or taped, not guessed
  • A photo of the access — gates, side paths, anything a barrow has to get through
  • A photo of the ground, especially any slope or retaining

The honest part. A price given off photos can move once somebody is standing in the yard. A camera flattens a slope, hides rock and does not show what is under the grass. If that happens the job needs a variation, and variations can be expensive. The site visit exists so that does not happen to you.

Not a fence?

Tyrone builds all of these. There is no per-metre rate for them because every one is different, so they get a proper quote rather than a number off a calculator.

Two ways to quote

A $50 site visit, credited back once you accept. Or free off your own photos and measurements, with the variation risk that carries.

$50, credited back

Charged when somebody comes out and measures. Credited back to the job the moment you accept the quote.

When it is done
Cleared and swept

Offcuts and the old fence go on the truck. You should not be able to tell where one day’s work stopped and the next started.

Why the drawing

Anyone can put a fence up. Fewer can put one up straight.

Tyrone will tell you the difference is the quality of the work, the attention to detail, and the thought that goes in before the first post hole. That is not a slogan, it is a way of working, and it shows up in the boring parts: consistent post centres, footings to depth, rails level over the whole run.

01

The set-out

Measured, marked and checked before anything is dug. A run that starts twenty millimetres out finishes a long way out, and no amount of good building fixes it afterwards.

02

The bits you will not see

Footing depth, drainage behind a retaining wall, the fixings. The parts that decide whether it is still right in five years are the parts nobody photographs.

03

The finish

Cuts clean, gaps even, site cleared. You should not be able to tell where one day’s work stopped and the next started.

01

Fencing

Timber paling, lapped and capped, Colorbond, aluminium and frameless glass pool fencing, PVC privacy and aluminium slat. All of it set out properly, with posts on consistent centres and footings dug to depth. A fence that is out by twenty millimetres over a run reads as wrong even to someone who could not tell you why, which is exactly why the set-out matters more than the speed.

Pool fencing is built to the compliance rules, not around them.

02

Decks

Low-set and elevated decking, framed square and fixed down neatly. Board gaps consistent, cuts clean, fixings in line. The parts people notice are the parts most people rush.

Quoted per job
03

Pergolas

Freestanding and attached pergolas. Posts plumb, beams level, rafters evenly spaced. Built to sit right with the house rather than look bolted on afterwards.

Quoted per job
04

Carports

Single and double carports, framed and roofed. Set out around the actual driveway and the actual car, not a standard span that nearly fits.

Send through the rough shape of the job and you will get a reply, usually with a couple of questions first, because a quote given without seeing the ground is a guess.
